Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedures.

  1. 2 -  In this step visually and physically inspect damage to throttle valve assembly.
  2. 3 -  In this step visually and physically inspect damage to accelerator pedal assembly.
  3. 5 -  Check throttle valve and throttle valve motor resistance. Check TPS resistance. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE  table.
  4. 7 -  Check Accelerator Pedal Sensor (APS) resistance. See ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR  table.
    THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE

TPS No. 1 Measure Between Pins Specification (Ohms)
    Throttle Position Sensor No. 1
No. 1 (Green wire) & No. 5 (Red wire) 1000-7000
No. 1 (Green wire) & No. 6 (Blue wire) (1)
    Throttle Position Sensor No. 2
    No. 4 (Green/White wire) & No. 8 (Red/White wire) 1000-7000
    No. 4 (Blue/White wire) & No. 7 (Blue/White wire) (1)
    (1) Resistance should change from .3-100 ohms as throttle is moved from closed throttle to wide open throttle.
    ACCELERATION POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE

APS No. 1 Measure Between Pins Specification (Ohms)
    APS No. 1
No. 10 (Black wire) & No. 4 (Red wire) 4-6
No. 4 (Red wire) & No. 5 (White wire) (1)
    APS No. 2
No. 3 (Blue wire) & No. 8 (Green wire) 4-6
No. 3 (Blue wire) & No. 9 (Yellow wire) (1)

    No. 1 (Orange wire) & No. 7 (Orange/Blue wire) 4-6
    No. 6 (Blue/Green wire) & No. 7 (Orange/Blue wire) (1)
    (1) Resistance should change smoothly and steadily as accelerator pedal is pressed.
