Exhaust Gas Recirculation Test

For PCM to start and run EGR test following conditions must exist:

• Throttle position angle is less than 0.8 percent.
• EGR duty cycle is less than 2 percent.
• MAP sensor signal is steady, changing less than 2 kPa.
• Engine speed is 1400-2800 RPM (M/T) RPM.
• Map sensor signal is between 10.3-49.8 kPa.

EGR test will be aborted if vehicle speed changes by 6 MPH or more, engine speed changes by 50 RPM or more or EGR valve is opened less than 95 percent of commanded position.

• PCM will only run EGR test during closed throttle (deceleration) conditions.
• PCM will only run EGR test at vehicle speed above 15 MPH.
• Several deceleration cycles will be necessary to run a sufficient number of EGR valve flow tests.
