Removal & Installation (XJS & XJ6)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Oxygen sensor(s) is located in exhaust down pipe(s). Disconnect oxygen sensor wire connector. Sensor may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (49°C).
  2. If oxygen sensor is difficult to remove, use rust penetrant to avoid possible damage to exhaust manifold threads. On XJS models, oxygen sensor(s) must be removed from underneath vehicle.
  3. On all models, remove oxygen sensor. Always use anti-seize compound on threads prior to installation. New sensor comes precoated with anti-seize. DO NOT  remove anti-seize from sensor. Install sensor and reconnect wire harness connector. Reconnect negative battery cable.
