Removal & Installation (XJS & XJ6)
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Oxygen sensor(s) is located in exhaust down pipe(s). Disconnect oxygen sensor wire connector. Sensor may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (49°C).
- If oxygen sensor is difficult to remove, use rust penetrant to avoid possible damage to exhaust manifold threads. On XJS models, oxygen sensor(s) must be removed from underneath vehicle.
- On all models, remove oxygen sensor. Always use anti-seize compound on threads prior to installation. New sensor comes precoated with anti-seize. DO NOT remove anti-seize from sensor. Install sensor and reconnect wire harness connector. Reconnect negative battery cable.
