Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Open the bonnet. Jack up the vehicle and support with axle stands.
Remove the bolts securing the sensor (1). Remove the timing bracket.
Displace the sensor (2).
Displace the sensor cable harness from the lower 'P' clip.
From above, disconnect the sensor cable harness multi-plug connector.
Fit a draw string to the sensor cable harness connector.
Displace the sensor harness from the upper 'P' clip. From below, carefully pull the sensor and cable harness from its location leaving the draw string in place.
Remove the sensor assembly from the draw string. Fit the new sensor to the drawstring. Pull up the sensor lead from above.
Fit the new sensor into position. Fit and tighten the securing bolts.
Secure the lead in the retaining clips. Remove the drawstring. Connect the sensor multi-plug. Connect the battery earth lead.
