Anti-Lock Brake System: Description

CAUTION: See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
NOTE: For more information on brake system, see DISC article.

All models are equipped with an Anti-Lock Brake System/Traction Control Control Module (ABS/TCCM) system. Vehicles are also capable of controlling traction utilizing Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Traction Control (TC). These systems accomplish a similar task, however they operate differently to control vehicle traction. The ASC and TC systems use ABS system components to control vehicle traction. ABS system consists of a hydraulic pump/motor unit, Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), brake control modulator, 4 wheel speed sensors and ABS warning light. See Fig 1 .
