The fire control module monitors the fire detection cable and automatically activates the fire extinguisher and sounds an alarm if it detects an overheat in the engine compartment or receives a manual activation signal from the FIRE switch. Two internal 9 V batteries provide the power for the fire control module, which makes the system independent of the vehicle's electrical system. Switches on the fire control module allow the fire suppressant system to be switched off and a system check to be performed of battery condition and of wiring continuity to the FIRE switch.
