Pinpoint Test B: Actuator Diagnostic 2

WARNING: Prior to any work on the pedestrian protection system the vehicle battery must be disconnected
WARNING: Please wait for 120 seconds to allow the air bag deployment energy reserve to dissipate
  1. B1: DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 
    1. Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams. Disconnect and check all in line connections from actuator harness fly lead to the restraint control module or pedestrian protection module (Vehicle variant specific)  for:
      • Debris
      • Water ingress or signs of corrosion (white/green residue)
      • Security
      • Damage
      • Cable damage
    2. Reconnect the vehicle battery
    3. Clear the DTC, cycle the ignition state off / on wait 30 seconds and re-test

    Is the pedestrian protection system (PED) warning message showing? 

    YES:  Replace the actuator

    NO:  No further action required
