Electric Vehicle Pressure Test - BEM/BECM Repair (G2375742): Check

WARNING:
  1. It is the responsibility of the EVAP/EVSAP to make sure they comply with any local legislation regarding working with High Voltages (HV) within this procedure.
  2. The approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn where indicated by the orange PPE icons within this procedure, all persons involved in this procedure must have read and understood article ABOUT THIS SERVICE INFORMATION before continuing.
  3. This procedure requires the use of Class 0 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), all persons involved in this procedure must have read and understood the PPE requirements as detailed in article ELECTRIC VEHICLE SAFETY RULES .
  4. All PPE equipment must be checked for wear or damage prior to use and replaced if damaged.
  5. This procedure must be carried out in the exact sequence shown below. Failure to do so could result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. WARNING: Jaguar Land Rover Electric Vehicle Authorized Person (EVAP) trained technicians only.

This procedure involves working on EV systems containing High Voltage (HV). Only technicians qualified to EVAP level or higher are allowed to perform this procedure  . It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.

Refer to: ELECTRIC VEHICLE SAFETY RULES .

    1. NOTE: Make sure the test gauge (C) is set to display pressure readings in mbar, refer to the manufacturers instructions.

Turn on the digital pressure gauge (C) and allow the gauge to self calibrate.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-415-051, JLR-415-051-08

    2. Check that valve (A) has the cap fitted correctly.
    3. Install the blanking plug (B) into the quick release connector, once installed the digital pressure gauge (C) should display a pressure value.
    4. Allow the pressure to stabilize for 1 minute.
    5. After the 1 minute stabilization time record the pressure value on the digital pressure gauge. Watch the value on digital pressure gauge for an additional 2 minutes, the pressure should not  decrease more than 5.0 mbar from the previously recorded value.
    6. If the pressure drops more than 5.0 mbar check the hoses and connections for leaks before continuing.

Remove the lock-out tool and padlock from the BEM HV electrical connector.

  4. G13923391Courtesy of JAGUAR LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA, LLC

Install the EV battery sealed connector (JLR-415-093) from the EV battery sealed connector kit (JLR-415-099).

    Special Tool(s): JLR-415-099

  5. Raise and support the vehicle.

Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .

  6. G13923392Courtesy of JAGUAR LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA, LLC

Disconnect the breather hose from the rear of the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery

  7. G13923393Courtesy of JAGUAR LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA, LLC

Disconnect and tie aside the 2 HV connectors from the front of the EV battery.

  8. G13923394Courtesy of JAGUAR LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA, LLC
    1. Install the 2 remaining EV battery sealed connectors from JLR-415-099.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-415-099

  9. CAUTION:
    1. Do not operate the pump fast, the pressure within the EV battery must be increased slowly and gradually.
    2. Do not exceed 50.0 mbar during the pressure increase.

    1. Connect the pump to the digital pressure gauge assembly (D) and install the connector (A) to the breather on the rear of the EV battery.
    2. Slowly operate the pump (B) while watching the digital pressure gauge (C). When the pressure reaches 50.0 mbar (E) stop operating the pump and disconnect from point (D).
    3. Allow the pressure to stabilize for 3 minutes, the pressure may decrease initially but should stabilize.
    4. After the 3 minute stabilization time record the pressure value on the digital pressure gauge. Watch the value on digital pressure gauge for an additional 2 minutes, the pressure should not  decrease more than 5.0 mbar from the previously recorded value.
    5. If the pressure decreases more than 5.0 mbar or the digital pressure gauge reads a value below 30 mbar the pressure test has failed indicating a leak, contact JLR technical support for further assistance before the EV battery is installed into the vehicle.
    6. If the pressure decrease over a 2 minute period is less than 5.0 mbar the test is successful continue to the next step.
