Carburetor (4.2L) R & I: Installation

  1. Clean gasket mating surfaces. Install replacement gaskets and spacer. Position carburetor on spacer and gasket. Install carburetor mounting nuts and tighten, in a crisscross pattern, to 84 INCH lbs. (9 N.m). Tighten nuts in this pattern further to 16 ft. lbs. (22 N.m).
  2. Reconnect all hoses, lines, springs, and electrical connectors to carburetor. Install air cleaner. Adjust engine idle speed and idle mixture, if necessary. See the ADJUSTMENTS article in this section.
