Distributor R & I (4.2L & 5.9L): Disassembly
- Place distributor in holding device. Remove rotor. See Fig 1
. Remove trigger wheel with Trigger Wheel Puller (7804). Use a flat washer to prevent puller from contacting inner shaft. Remove pin.

- Remove pick-up coil retainer and washers from pivot pin on base plate. Remove 2 pick-up coil plate screws. Lift pick-up coil assembly from distributor housing.
- If vacuum advance mechanism is to be replaced, remove screws and lift mechanism out of distributor housing. Tilt unit to disengage link from pick-up coil pin protruding through distributor housing. Loosen base plate for clearance, if necessary.
