Fuel Injector (2.5L) R & I: Removal

  1. Remove filler cap to relieve tank pressure. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove throttle body lower bonnet. Remove injector connector by compressing lock tabs and lifting. Remove injector retainer screws. Remove retainer.
    CAUTION: Injector has a small locating tab that fits into a slot in bottom of injector bore or throttle body. See Fig 1 . DO NOT twist injector during removal.

  2. Using a small pair of pliers, gently grasp center collar of injector and carefully remove injector by rocking it back and forth while lifting upward. Remove and discard centering ring, and upper and lower "O" rings. See Fig 1 .
CAUTION: DO NOT  reuse centering or upper and lower "O" rings. Fuel leakage can result.
