Scan Tool Diagnostic Mode

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Attach scan tool to data link connector. Connector is located on left side of engine compartment, near PCM. See Figure . Start engine (if possible). Turn A/C system on, then off (if equipped).
  2. Turn engine off. Without starting engine, turn ignition on and access READ TROUBLE CODES function of scan tool FUEL/IGN MENU.
  3. Record all fault messages displayed by scan tool, and observe MIL on instrument cluster. MIL should come on for 3 seconds and then go out (bulb check).
