Intermittent Code Failures

During each ignition on/off cycle, if a DTC is not seen every time PCM checks a specific circuit or function, an intermittent code DTC is stored in PCM memory. Intermittent code failures may cause MIL to flicker or stay on until the intermittent code failure goes away. However, the corresponding DTC will be retained in PCM memory. If related failure does not reoccur within a certain time frame, related DTC will be erased from PCM memory. Intermittent code failures are most often caused by a bad connector or wiring related problems. Because intermittent code failures are the most difficult to diagnose, duplicating the specific conditions when they occurred will help to identify them.
