Verification Test VER-2A Road Test Verification

  1. Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary. If this verification test is being performed following a TROUBLE CODE test, go to next step. If this verification test is being performed following a NO TROUBLE CODE test, do the following:
    • Check if initial symptom still is present.
    • If initial or another symptom is present, the repair is not complete. Check any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that apply to vehicle. Return to TEST NTC-1A  if necessary.
  2. If another trouble code was read and not corrected, return to TEST TC-1A  and follow path specified by other trouble code(s). If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has not been replaced, perform the following:
    • Connect scan tool to data link connector, and erase trouble code messages.
    • Using scan tool, reset all values in adaptive memory.
    • Disconnect scan tool.
  3. To ensure no other fault remains, perform the following:
    • If vehicle is equipped with A/C, turn on A/C and blower motor.
    • Drive vehicle for at least 5 minutes and attain a speed of at least 40 MPH. Ensure transmission shifts through all gears. Upon completion of road test, turn engine off.
    • Restart engine and let idle for at least 2 minutes. Turn engine off.
    • Connect scan tool to data link connector and read all trouble code messages.
  4. If repaired trouble code has reset, repair is not complete. Check any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that apply to vehicle. Return to TEST TC-1A  if necessary. If another trouble code message is present, return to TEST TC-1A  and follow path specified by other trouble code message(s). If no other trouble code messages are present, repair is now complete.
