Front Washer Pump Test

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Depress washer switch. If wipers do not operate, go to FRONT WIPER SWITCH TEST  . If wipers operate, disconnect front washer pump connector. See Fig 1 . Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between front washer pump connector terminal "B" (Black wire) and chassis ground. If no continuity exists, repair open Black wire between connector and chassis ground. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Black intermittent wiper control module input connector. Intermittent wiper control module is mounted to lower instrument panel, behind knee bolster, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Depress washer switch. Using a voltmeter, check for battery voltage at wiper switch harness connector terminal "B" (Black/Tan wire). See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Black/Tan wire between connector and wiper switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect Gray intermittent wiper control output connector. Depress washer switch. Check for battery voltage at connector terminal "B" (Black/Red wire). See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist, replace faulty intermittent wiper control module. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  4. Depress washer switch. Check for battery voltage at front washer pump connector terminal "A" (Brown wire). If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Brown wire between connector and intermittent wiper control module. If battery voltage exists, replace faulty pump.
