Test TC-12A - Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid/Trans Relay CKT
NOTE:
Test applies to vehicle equipped with automatic transmission only.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
article in this section.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect transmission solenoid connector. Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary and perform TEST VER-2A. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on TCC connector, fused ignition switch output circuit (Dark Blue/White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open fused ignition switch output circuit and perform TEST VER-2A . If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Inspect connectors and terminals for damage. Repair connectors and terminals as necessary and perform TEST VER-2A. If connectors and terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of PCM White connector, TCC solenoid control circuit (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in TCC solenoid control circuit and perform TEST VER-2A. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of TCC solenoid control circuit (Orange/Black wire) between PCM White connector and TCC solenoid connector. If resistance less than 5 ohms, replace PCM and perform TEST VER-2A . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open TCC solenoid control circuit and perform TEST VER-2A.
NOTE:
A break in test sequence occurs at this point. Sequence skips from TEST TC-12A to TEST TC-14A. No tests have been omitted.
