Test TC-171B - Governor Pressure Solenoid/Trans Relay CKTS

NOTE: Perform TEST TC-171A  before proceeding.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in this section.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect transmission solenoid connector. Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary and perform TEST VER-2A. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of transmission relay control circuit between transmission solenoid connector and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open transmission relay control circuit and perform TEST VER-2A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Check resistance of transmission control relay output circuit between transmission relay connector and transmission solenoid connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open transmission control relay output circuit and perform TEST VER-2A. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
  4. Drain and remove transmission pan. Disconnect governor pressure solenoid connector. Inspect connector/terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary and perform TEST VER-2A. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  5. Check resistance across governor pressure solenoid terminals. If resistance 8 ohms or less, replace internal transmission wiring harness and perform TEST VER-2A . If resistance more than 8 ohms, replace governor pressure solenoid and perform TEST VER-2A.
