Test TC-50C - Trans 3-4 Solenoid/Trans Relay CKTS

NOTE: Perform TEST TC-50A before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION DIRECTORY. For component location see wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission (TRANS) solenoid and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Inspect connectors and terminals for damage. Repair connectors and terminals as necessary and perform TEST VER-2A. If connectors and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between TRANS solenoid connector, 3-4 shift solenoid control circuit (Brown wire) and all other circuits in solenoid connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between any 2 circuits, repair TRANS control relay output circuit for a short to other circuit(s), perform TEST VER-2A and go to step 4). If resistance is 5 ohms or more between all circuits, go to next step.
  3. Replace TRANS solenoid pack and wiring harness, perform TEST VER-2A, connect all disconnected connectors and go to next step.
  4. Road test vehicle and reach a speed of 50 MPH. Depress Overdrive (OD) switch 4 times so that vehicle attempts to shift from fourth gear to third gear and back. If vehicle does not shift between third and fourth gear, replace PCM and perform TEST VER-2A. If vehicle shifts between third and fourth gear, test is complete.
