Trans Over Temp Indicator Not Operating Properly

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Press and hold TRIP/RESET button on instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. MIC self-test will start. If TRANS OVER TEMP indicator light illuminates for about 4 seconds and then goes out, go to next step. If TRANS OVER TEMP indicator light does not illuminate for about 4 seconds and then go out, go to step  3 .
  2. Using scan tool, read TRANSMISSION DTCs. If any TRANSMISSION DTCs are present, go to appropriate ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. If no TRANSMISSION DTCs are present, test is complete.
  3. Using scan tool, read TRANSMISSION DTCs. If any TRANSMISSION DTCs are present, go to appropriate ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. If no TRANSMISSION DTCs are present, go to next step.
  4. Remove and inspect TRANS OVER TEMP indicator bulb. Replace as needed. If bulb is okay, replace instrument printed circuit board.
