Body Control Modules: Description
The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus system. Through the PCI bus, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits are relayed to the appropriate system module(s). This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.
Body control computer systems covered under SYSTEM TESTS are as follows:
- Chime System
- Communication
- Overhead Console
- Electronically Heated Systems
- Exterior Lighting
- Instrument Cluster
- Interior Lighting
- Memory Seats
- Power Door Locks/Remote Keyless Entry System
- Power Mirrors
- Power Windows
- Sentry Key Immobilizer System
- Vehicle Theft Security System
- Wiper/Washer System
Body control computer fault messages are accessed through 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB) scan tool or generic scan tool. DLC is located on left side of steering column, above brake pedal. See Fig 1.
