Driver's Door Module
NOTE:
Only function of Driver's Door Module (DDM) in power lock system is to provide a lock or unlock signal to power lock system control circuitry contained within Passenger's Door Module (PDM). DDM signals PDM by providing a hard-wired ground path through DDM ground circuit and driver's power door lock switch contacts to lock and unlock request terminals of PDM.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver's front door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) harness connector C1. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 8 (Black wire) at DDM harness connector C1. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between DDM and ground point. Ground point is located in left rear quarter panel near tail light.
- If power door lock switch illumination operates correctly, go to step 4. If power door lock switch illumination does not operate correctly, connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ACC or ON positions. Check voltage between terminals at circuit breaker No. 28 (25-amp) in junction block. See Fig 2. Junction block is located behind right kick panel. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, replace circuit breaker.
- Check voltage at terminal No. 9 (Tan wire) at DDM harness connector C1. If battery voltage is present, replace DDM. See DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Tan wire between junction block and DDM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check continuity between terminals No. 7 (component side) and No. 8 (component side) at DDM. Press power door lock switch to lock. Continuity should exist. Check continuity between terminals No. 8 (component side) and No. 11 (component side) at DDM. Press power door lock switch to unlock. Continuity should exist. See Fig 3. If continuity is not as specified at any terminal, replace DDM. See DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity is as specified at all terminals, repair short to ground in Orange/Violet wire and/or Pink/Violet wire between DDM and PDM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
