Anti-Theft System

NOTE: Anti-theft system may also be referred to as Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS).

The VTSS is integrated into Body Control Module (BCM). VTSS monitors vehicle doors, ignition switch, liftgate and liftglass to determine if alarm should trigger. When an unauthorized entry is detected, system responds by flashing parking lights, sounding horn for 3 minutes and flashing headlights and taillights for an additional 15 minutes. VTSS does not prevent engine starting or operation. Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS) receives a message from BCM to prevent engine from continued operation. See SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM  .

System can be armed by using Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter or by normal vehicle exit (removing ignition key, opening driver's door, pressing power door lock switch, and closing driver's door after exiting vehicle). VTSS uses a security light located above instrument cluster to indicate when system is armed. System can be disarmed by unlocking a front door or by RKE transmitter. If vehicle has been tampered with, anti-theft indicator light will change from a slow steady flash to a quick double flash and horn will sound 3 times when unlock command is received from RKE transmitter.

Panic alert mode flashes headlight and taillights, pulses horn and interior lights will turn on. Panic alert mode will stay on for 3 minutes unless deactivated by either pushing panic button on RKE transmitter, or by starting and driving vehicle at more than 15 MPH.

Whenever BCM is replaced, VTSS must be enabled by unlocking doors with key one time or by using scan tool. This allows BCM to see that the vehicle is equipped with an VTSS.
