Control Circuit Testing

The starter control circuit components should be tested in the order in which they are listed, as follows:

• Starter Relay  - See STARTER RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTING.
• Starter Solenoid  - See STARTER SOLENOID  under COMPONENT TESTING.
• Ignition Switch  - See IGNITION SWITCH in appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
• Clutch Pedal Position Switch  - If equipped with manual transmission, See CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH in appropriate CLUTCH article.
• Park/Neutral Position Switch  - See DTC P1899: PARK/NEUTRAL SWITCH PERFORMANCE under DIAGNOSTICS TESTING in appropriate SELF DIAGNOSTICS article.
• Wire harnesses and connections  - See appropriate article under WIRING DIAGRAMS
