Fuel Level Sending Unit Sensor

  1. Raise vehicle.
    NOTE: A one-way check-valve is located within the fuel fill fitting on the fuel tank. Consequently, the tank can't be drained through the fuel fill hose. To drain diesel fuel from tank, disconnect fuel line at fuel filter/water separator. Use a diagnostic scan tool to activate the electric fuel pump. Drain diesel fuel into an approved storage/holding tank.
  2. Disconnect pump module electrical pigtail connector (1) from body wiring harness connector (2). See Figure.

  3. Disconnect fuel line connectors (1) and (2) at front of tank (3). See STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  4. Disconnect fuel vent connectors (1) and (5) at rear of tank. See STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Loosen clamp (4) and disconnect rubber fill hose (2) at tank fitting (3).
  6. Support tank with a hydraulic jack.

  7. Remove bolts (1) and (2) at right side of fuel tank. See Figure.
  8. Remove bolts (3) at left side of fuel tank.
  9. Lower tank for removal.
  10. If fuel tank is to be replaced, remove fuel pump module from tank. See REMOVAL .
  11. Remove fuel sending unit from module.
