Sensor, Coolant Temperature: Removal: 3.0L

The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is located on the upper portion of the water pump housing. It is installed into a water jacket inline with the thermostat.

WARNING:

Hot, pressurized coolant can cause injury by scalding. Cooling system must be partially drained before removing the coolant temperature sensor.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air intake system.
    NOTE:

    Do not waste reusable coolant. If solution is clean, drain coolant into a clean container for reuse.

  3. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Disconnect electrical connector from sensor.
  5. Remove sensor (2) from the water pump housing.
