Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR ACTIVE INTERNAL FAULTS, IGNITION FAULTS, BATTERY FAULTS, OR SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH OR LOW FAULTS IN THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)
NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged
1. With the scan tool, read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display any active DTCs relating to internal faults, ignition faults, battery faults, or Seat Track Position Sensor Circuit High or Low faults?
  
  Yes
  - Diagnose and repair the DTCs. Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Refer to the OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX article .
  No
  - Go To 2
VERIFY THAT B1B8C-DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE IS ACTIVE
1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display active: B1B8C-DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 3
  No
  - Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
PERFORM SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR PERFORMANCE TEST
1. With the scan tool, erase ORC DTCs.
2. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds and then turn the ignition on.
3. Cycle the driver seat to the full forward position and then to the full rearward position.
4. Return the driver seat to its approximate original position.
5. Wait two minutes, and then with the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display active: B1B8C-DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE?
  
  Yes
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  
  WARNING:
  If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  - Replace the Driver Seat Track Position Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform the AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  - If DTC B1B8C-DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE returns active, replace the ORC in accordance with the Service Information.
  No
  - Perform the AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
