Sensor, Coolant Temperature: Removal: 3.2L

The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor on the 3.2L engine is installed into a water jacket at rear of the cylinder head on the left side of the engine.

WARNING:

Hot, pressurized coolant can cause injury by scalding. Cooling system must be partially drained before removing the coolant temperature sensor.

NOTE:

Do not waste reusable coolant. If solution is clean, drain coolant into a clean container for reuse.

  1. Partially raise the vehicle.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Slide the heat shield (1) away from the temperature sensor (2).
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the temperature sensor.
  6. Remove the sensor from the cylinder head (3).
