Theory Of Operation

The purpose of the diagnostic is to detect incorrect TCM configuration (calibration data) stored in the TCM. This diagnostic compares the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stored in the TCM to the VIN received via CAN. It is assumed that the correct transmission has been installed in the vehicle.
