Engine Cooling System: Engine: Thermostat: Installation: 3.6L

  1. Clean the mating surfaces on the timing cover and thermostat housing.

  2. Install a NEW  thermostat housing gasket (1).

  3. Install the thermostat housing and tighten the bolts (1) finger tight.

  4. Using the tighten sequence shown in illustration tighten the bolts the proper specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .

  5. Connect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (1) wire harness connector.

  6. Install the upper radiator hose (1) onto the thermostat housing.

  7. Install the coolant hose (1) onto the thermostat housing.
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  9. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for leaks and correct fluid level. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM LEAKS .
