Module, Powertrain Control (Pcm): Installation: 2.4L/3.2L

CAUTION:

If a new powertrain control module is being installed, use a scan tool to reprogram the new module with the original vehicle identification number (VIN) and original mileage. If this step is not performed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set.

  1. If removed, install the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) mount (3). Tighten the bolts (2) to the proper torque.

    Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  2. Position the PCM to the mount.
  3. Install the ground wire if removed. Install and tighten the nut to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install the nuts (3) Tighten to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Connect the PCM wire harness connectors.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
    NOTE:

    If the module is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment.

  7. Perform the PCM programming procedure. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
