Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
- Perform the appropriate TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- With the scan tool, read the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- CHECK THE WIRING HARNESS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Upshift and Downshift Paddle Shift Switches. Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (SCCM) .
- Visually and physically inspect the wiring harness between the Upshift and Downshift Paddle Shift Switch harness connectors and the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) harness connector for any damaged wires, connectors, and open/spread terminals.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- MONITOR THE UPSHIFT/DOWNSHIFT PADDLE SHIFT SWITCH VIA THE SCAN TOOL
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, Monitor the Paddle shift switch status under the Body Control Module screen while activating the Paddle Shift Switches
Were one or both of the Paddle Shift Switches unresponsive?
Yes
- Replace the unresponsive Paddle Shift Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SWITCH, REMOTE RADIO, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK THE UPSHIFT/DOWNSHIFT PADDLE SHIFT SWITCHES
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Upshift Paddle Shift Switch.
- Disconnect the Downshift Paddle Shift Switch.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Reconnect the Upshift Paddle Shift Switch.
- Reconnect the Downshift Paddle Shift Switch.
- With the scan tool, erase the SCCM DTCs.
- Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.
- With the scan tool, read the SCCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM). Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (SCCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test Complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
