Programming The Pcm - LATAM
This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:
- A Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has been replaced.
- Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1602 - PCM Not Programmed is set.
- An updated calibration or software release is available for either the PCM or Transmission Control Module (TCM).
This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.
Programming Procedure:
- Record the flash part number in the original PCM.
- Have the vehicle Personal Identification Number (PIN) available.
- Replace the PCM.
- Connect a battery charger to the vehicle.
- Connect the diagnostic scan tool.
- Position the ignition to the RUN.
- Manually enter the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in diagnostic scan tool to identify what vehicle you are working on.
- When the diagnostic scan tool successfully identifies the vehicle, locate the correct Flash. Flash the PCM software. Follow the diagnostic scan tool prompts. Cycle the ignition as directed.
- If required, perform the PROXI Alignment Procedure located in the "Vehicle Preparations" menu in the activities service infomation of the left margin as well as under the Body Control Module (BCM) Misc. Functions menu. This routine will copy the PROXI into the PCM and write the PCM VIN. If PROXI Alignment is required, Manually enter the VIN into the PCM using the "Check PCM VIN" misc function under PCM.
- If equipped with a manual transmission, perform the Clutch Pedal Learning in the TCM Misc Functions menu. If equipped with an automatic transmission, perform the N Position Self Learning in the TCM Misc Functions menu.
- Perform the Purge Fuel Circuit Test in the ECM the Misc Functions menu.
- Perform the Phonic Wheel Tooth Learning Reset in the ECM the Misc Functions menu.
- Perform the Transfer Secret Key to ESL in the BCM the Misc Functions menu.
- Verify that the engine starts and runs.
