Module, Forward Facing Camera (FFCM): Operation

The Forward Facing Camera (FFC) is powered by a fused battery feed from the Power Distribution Center (PDC) so that it is only active when ignition is set to the RUN position.

Auto High Beam Control -  The FFC module reports on the Controller Area Network - Chassis (CAN-C) bus to the Body Control Module (BCM) for messages needed for the Automatic High Beam Control (AHBC) functionality, and for further detailed operating parameters of the AHBC system for further description and functionality of the AHBC system. Refer to OPERATION .

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) -  The FFC reports to the ACC module to create the enhanced ACC+ as well as the FCW+ operation. These components share a private CAN-C bus where data from the FFC is sent to the ACC module for data fusion for further description and functionality of the FCW system. Refer to DESCRIPTION . for further ACC operation information. Refer to DESCRIPTION .

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) -  The LDW feature uses the FFC to identify visible lane markings and to track lane boundaries. The FFC requests haptic responses from the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system when required for further description and functionality of the LDW system. Refer to DESCRIPTION .

The hardwired circuits between components related to the FFC system may be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and procedures. Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, connector pin out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds. However, conventional diagnostic methods will not prove conclusive in the diagnosis of the FFC system or the electronic controls and communication between the ECU and other devices that provide some features of this system. The most reliable, efficient and accurate means to diagnose the FFC and communication related to the FFC system operation requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
