Module, Keyless Ignition Node (Kin): Installation

  1. Assemble the Keyless Ignition Node (KIN) (3) to the ignition node bracket (2) and securely tighten the fasteners (1).

  2. Position the KIN (3) and bracket to the back of the lower instrument panel trim bezel, then install and securely tighten the fasteners (1).
  3. Connect the wire harness connector (2) to the KIN.
  4. Install the Integrated Center Stack (ICS) module. Refer to RADIO, INSTALLATION .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
  6. If the KIN is being replaced, perform the verification test. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    NOTE:

    This procedure will require you to log into DealerCONNECT or Service Library and enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) when requested. The PIN is temporary and will be active for 12 hours. After 12 hours, a new PIN will need to be obtained from DealerCONNECT. 

NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
