Module, Powertrain Control (Pcm): Installation: 2.4L/3.2L
CAUTION:
If a new powertrain control module is being installed, use a scan tool to reprogram the new module with the original vehicle identification number (VIN) and original mileage. If this step is not performed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set.
- If removed, install the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) mount (3). Tighten the fasteners (2) to the proper specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Position the PCM to the mount.
- Install the ground wire if removed. Install and tighten the fasteners to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the fasteners (3) Tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the PCM wire harness connectors.
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
- Perform the PCM programming procedure. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
