Do not disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connectors before the ignition key is in the off position and the battery cable disconnected. If these steps are not preformed damage to the PCM may result from a voltage spike.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the PCM wire harness connectors (1).
- Remove the fasteners (2, 3) that secure the PCM to the PCM mount and remove the ground wire, if necessary, from the stud.
