Power Lock System: Notes
The following are tests that may help to diagnose the hardwired components and circuits of the power lock system. However, these tests may not prove conclusive in the diagnosis of this system. In order to obtain conclusive testing of the power lock system, the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus and all of the electronic modules that provide inputs to, or receive outputs from the power lock system components must also be tested.
The most reliable, efficient, and accurate means to diagnose the power lock system requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool and the appropriate diagnostic information. The diagnostic scan tool can provide confirmation that the CAN bus is functional, that all of the proper electronic modules are sending and receiving the proper electronic messages over the CAN bus, and that the power lock motors are receiving the proper hardwired outputs from the Body Control Module (BCM) for them to perform their power lock system functions.
Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS, connector pin-out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.
