This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:

This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.

Programming Procedure:

  1. Record the flash part number in the original Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
  2. Have the vehicle Personal Identification Number (PIN) available.
  3. Connect a battery charger to the vehicle.
  4. Connect the diagnostic scan tool.
  5. Position the ignition to the RUN.
  6. Manually enter the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in diagnostic scan tool to identify what vehicle you are working on.
  7. When the diagnostic scan tool successfully identifies the vehicle, locate the correct flash and flash the PCM software. Follow the diagnostic scan tool prompts. Position the ignition off for 90 seconds then cycle the ignition as directed.
  8. Perform the "PCM Replaced"  routine in "Misc Functions" menu under the Body Control Module (BCM).
  9. Perform the "Proxy Configuration Alignment  " located under the Guided Diagnostics menu in the activities section of the left margin. This routine will copy the PROXI into the PCM and write the PCM VIN. Manually enter the VIN into the PCM using the "Check PCM VIN"  misc. function under PCM.
  10. Select the PCM view and then select the "Misc Functions  " menu.
  11. In the PCM "Misc Functions  " menu, select and run the "Learn ETC  " routine. This routine is necessary to learn the throttle position voltages and the accelerator pedal position. Follow the prompts shown on the diagnostic scan tool.
NOTE:

The "Fuel Adaptive Parameter Reset" and "Fuel Feed System Component Replacement" scan tool procedures should always be run after a PCM is replaced on a vehicle with the 2.0L GMET engine. The procedures should be in the "Miscellaneous Functions" tab in the PCM. Failure to run the procedures may cause DTCs to set in the PCM.
