Starting System (Service Information): Starter: Installation: 2.4L

  1. Position the starter for installation.
  2. Install the lower bolt to the starter and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Position the positive cable to the starter and install the and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Connect the starter solenoid wire harness connector.
  5. Install the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (if equipped). Refer to INSTALLATION .
  6. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the upper starter bolts and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Install the wire retention plate to the transmission and tighten the fastener to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Install the PCM Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), INSTALLATION .
  11. Install the intake manifold. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
