Removal And Installation: Removal: Notes

- Remove the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Using a seal hook (3) or equivalent, remove the outboard seal (1) from the input shaft (3), use care not to damage the input shaft.
- Using (special tool #C-637, Slide Hammer, Universal) or equivalent fitted with a suitable self-tapping screw (2), carefully remove the input shaft oil seal (1).
- Remove any debris remaining from oil seal removal.
- Clean and visually inspect shaft sealing surfaces and the seal bore.
