Charging System (Service Information): Generator: Removal: 6.4L
WARNING:
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery before removing the battery output wire (B+ wire) from the generator. Failure to do so can result in injury or damage to the electrical system.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the supercharger belt tensioner. Refer to TENSIONER, DRIVE BELT, REMOVAL .
- Remove the right front splash shield Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .
- Unsnap the plastic insulator cap from the B+ output terminal.
- Remove the B+ terminal mounting nut at the rear of the generator. Disconnect the terminal from the generator.
- Disconnect the field wire connector (3) at the rear of the generator by pushing on the connector tab.
- Remove the upper and lower rear generator mounting bolts (1).NOTE:
Not required to loosen the bracket bolt, the generator will slide out.
- Remove the lower front stud nut bolt (2).
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- If needed position the supercharger coolant lines aside.
- Remove the generator from vehicle from above.
