REMOVAL
NOTE:
If this Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new PCM. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to
COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
or COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Disconnect the PCM wire harness connectors (1).
- Remove the fastener (1) and disconnect the ground wire.
- Remove the PCM fasteners (2) and then remove the PCM from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
- Position the PCM to the vehicle, install and securely tighten the fasteners.
- Connect the ground wire and fastener to the PCM.
- Connect the wire harness connectors to the PCM.
- Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
- If this Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to align the PROXI configuration data into the new PCM. Follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
- Select the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu in PCM.
- Select and perform the "replacement unit" routine.
- With key in the OFF position and with the hazard lights turned ON, go to " BCM", select the "miscellaneous functions" menu and then perform the "transfer secret key" routine.
