This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:

This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.

Programming Procedure:

  1. Record the flash part number in the original PCM.
  2. Have the vehicle Personal Identification Number (PIN) available.
  3. Replace the PCM.
  4. Connect a battery charger to the vehicle.
  5. Connect the diagnostic scan tool.
  6. Position the ignition to the RUN.
  7. Manually enter the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in diagnostic scan tool to identify what vehicle you are working on.
  8. When the diagnostic scan tool successfully identifies the vehicle, locate the correct Flash. Flash the PCM software. Follow the diagnostic scan tool prompts. Cycle the ignition as directed.
  9. If required, perform the "PROXI Alignment Procedure  " located in the "Vehicle Preparations" menu in the activities section of the left margin as well as under the Body Control Module (BCM) "Misc. Functions  " menu. This routine will copy the PROXI into the PCM and write the PCM VIN. If PROXI Alignment is required, Manually enter the VIN into the PCM using the "Check PCM VIN" misc. function under PCM.
  10. Navigate to the BCM "Misc Functions" menu and perform the "Transfer Secret Key to ESL ECM"  routine. Enter PIN when requested.
  11. Navigate to PCM "Misc Functions" and perform the Learn ETC routine  .
  12. Verify that the engine starts and runs.
  13. Module programming is now complete.
NOTE:

The "GSE Injector Adaption" scan tool procedure should always be run after a PCM is replaced on a vehicle with the 2.0L GMET engine. The procedures should be in the "Miscellaneous Functions" tab in the PCM. Failure to run the procedures may cause DTCs to set in the PCM.
