Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Remove the Driver AirBag (DAB). Refer to AIR BAG, DRIVER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  2. Remove the cover (1) for the nut on the steering column shaft.

  3. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) for the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM).
  4. Remove the steering wheel nut (2).
  5. Remove the steering wheel (3a) including the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) switch (3b), remote radio switches (3c) and speed control switch (3d), releasing the wire harness and connector for the airbag module (3e).

  6. Use a suitable tool, remove the remote radio switch trim cover (1a), then remove the screw (1b).
  7. Remove the right remote radio switch (2a) far enough to access and release the wire harness (2b) from the retainers (2c), then disconnect the wire harness connector (2d).

  8. Remove the screw (1a) and pull the speed control switch (1b) away from the steering wheel.
  9. Release the wire harness (2a) from the retainer and the wire harness connector (2b) from its retainer. Note the routing of the wire harness in the steering wheel for ease of installation.

  10. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1).
NOTE:

Perform the same operation to remove the left remote radio switch and Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) switch on the opposite side of the steering wheel.
