Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN NOTE:
When servicing the DASM, it is recommended to obtain the environmental conditions when the concern took place from the customer. Heavy rain, snow, ice, and fog can cause the DASM to become inoperative. This is considered as a normal operational reaction of the DASM and no repair is necessary.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- INSPECT DASM MOUNTING AND LENS ALIGNMENT NOTE:
A secure and unmodified mounting location is critical to the proper operation of the DASM.
NOTE:Vehicles that have had the suspension modified and/or an aftermarket grill installed that blocks the DASM can cause the DASM to not function properly.
- Perform a thorough visual and physical inspection of the DASM and the mounting bracket and location.
- Check for:
- Bent mounting bracket
- Damage to the DASM
- Damaged, obscured, or out of alignment lens
- DASM not fully seated or broken/missing securing clips
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
- Replace the DASM Sensor only if visible damage is present, then replace the bracket and sensor assembly. Refer to MODULE, DRIVERS ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (DASM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the DASM alignment procedure in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM MODULE (DASM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM MODULE (DASM) VERIFICATION TEST .

- Perform the DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM MODULE (DASM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM MODULE (DASM) VERIFICATION TEST .
