Description And Operation - 1.5L MHEV
DESCRIPTION
MHEV technology is governed by the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) module. The HCP module is located under the interior trim, on the front passenger side floor bed. There are two connectors (A) and (B) to connect the HCP module to the vehicle wiring harness. The vehicle wiring harness only connects to the connector A as only this connector is populated with PINs.
In the HCP module there is an optimizer algorithm that determines instant by instant, based on the data it receives from the vehicle systems, the optimal way to operate the vehicle in order to save fuel. Basically, it determines what, how and how much torque the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and P2 electric machine must deliver. The optimizer algorithm performs a calculation that, depending on the dynamic conditions in which the vehicle is located (uphill, downhill, cornering, acceleration, deceleration, etc.), on the level of charge of 48V battery and on other thousands of data and parameters, establishes the most convenient traction mode by appropriately mixing the ICE and electric or hybrid traction.
