Charging System (Service Information): Generator: Removal: 2.4L
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS), REMOVAL .
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL

- Remove the two forward A/C compressor mounting bolts (1).
- Loosen the inner A/C compressor mounting bolt (2) enough to allow the A/C compressor and lines to pivot downward allowing full access to the lower generator mounting bolts.
- Disconnect the field generator harness connector (3).
- Remove the B(+) cable from the generator stud (2).
- Remove the upper generator bolt (1).
- Remove the lower generator bolts (4).
