Preliminary Diagnosis

As a preliminary diagnosis for the power lock system, note the system operation while you actuate both the Lock and Unlock functions with the power lock switches and with the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter (also known as the FOB with Integrated Key/FOBIK). Then, proceed as follows:

  1. If the entire power lock system fails to function with either the power lock switches or the FOBIK, check the fused B(+) fuse for the power lock system.
  2. Confirm that the Settings > Doors & Locks  found in the radio show the "Flash lights with Lock"  as Checked (as seen below). Once this is confirmed, attempt to lock/unlock with the RKE transmitter and look for the turn signals to flash. If the turn signals flash with a button press from the RKE transmitter, then proceed to diagnosis of the door lock switch.

  3. If the power lock system functions with both power lock switches, but not with the FOBIK, proceed to diagnosis of the RKE system.
  4. If the power lock system functions with the FOBIK, but not with one or both power lock switches, proceed to diagnosis of the door lock switches.
  5. If only one power lock motor fails to operate with both power lock switches and the RKE transmitter, proceed to diagnosis of the power lock motor.
