Technical Data-Braking System Messages
NON-eBOOSTER SYSTEM SIGNALS
| Brake signal messages broadcast by the Brake System Control Module (BSCM) | ||
|---|---|---|
| MESSAGE | MESSAGE DESCRIPTION | MESSAGE DEFINITION |
| Brake Pedal Position Signal | Percentage of pedal travel | The BSCM broadcasts the BPP Sensor signal voltage on the CAN bus. If the sensor signal is faulty, the BSCM sets a fault against the sensor and sends a Signal Not Available (SNA) message on the CAN bus. The PCM will set the missing message fault (U11BF) for the SNA message. |
| Master Cylinder Pressure Signal | Actual hydraulic pressure in the Master Cylinder | If the Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor is faulty, the BSCM sets a fault against the sensor and sends an SNA message on the CAN bus. The PCM will set the implausible data fault (U0418) for the SNA message. |
| Brake Torque Signal | Hydraulic line pressure in the braking system to the wheels | The BSCM calculates the sum of the hydraulic pressure to the calipers in all four hydraulic circuits. The signal is broadcast on the CAN bus. |
eBOOSTER SYSTEM SIGNALS
| Brake signal messages broadcast by the Brake System Control Module (BSCM) | ||
|---|---|---|
| MESSAGE | MESSAGE DESCRIPTION | MESSAGE DEFINITION |
| Brake Pedal Position Signal | Percentage of pedal travel | The BSCM sends the average of the two BPP Sensor signal inputs on the CAN bus. If one sensor is faulted, the BSCM sets a fault against the sensor and sends the input from only the good sensor on the CAN bus. The PCM will function normally if only one sensor is faulty. If both sensors are faulty, the BSCM sets a fault against both sensors and sends a Signal Not Available (SNA) signal on the CAN bus. The PCM will set the missing message fault (U11BF) for the SNA message. |
| Brake Pedal Pressure Signal | Simulated Brake Pedal applied pressure | If the Brake Pedal Simulator Pressure Sensor is faulty, the BSCM sets a fault against the sensor and sends and SNA message on the CAN bus. The PCM will set the implausible data fault (U0418) for the SNA message. |
| Brake Boost Pressure Signal | Hydraulic line pressure in the braking system to the wheels | The BSCM calculates the sum of the hydraulic pressure to the calipers in all four hydraulic circuits. The signal broadcast on the CAN bus. |
| BSCM Readiness Flag | Informs PCM that ESS can be performed. | The BSCM sends an ESS readiness flag (TRUE) message when the BSCM determines that ESS can be enabled. This is based on hydraulic pressure to the calipers and road grade calculation. |
