Lower Control Arm: Notes

REMOVAL 

NOTE:

If the vehicle is equipped with a cam bolt service kit, paint or scribe marks on the cam adjuster and the control arm for installation reference.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Using a suitable stand support the front axle assembly.
  3. Remove the front brake hose lower control arm nut and remove the bracket from the stud.

  4. Remove the lower control arm front nut and bolt.

  5. Remove the lower control arm rear nut and bolt and the washer if equipped, then remove the lower control arm.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

NOTE:

In any instance where a bolt is through a rubber bushing, the bolt must be torqued with the vehicle at normal ride height.

NOTE:

The paint dot located on the control arm should face outboard. If paint dot is not visible, the bend should point inboard, and the short end should attach to the axle side.

NOTE:

All lower control arm bolts must be installed outboard to inboard.
